Comprehensive general dentistry
An overview of the treatment offered at the practice, written to help you understand what each involves and when it is needed. Treatment is always assessed individually at consultation.
01
General & Preventive Care
Regular examinations allow small problems to be found and managed before they become larger ones. A routine check-up reviews the teeth, gums, bite, and surrounding soft tissues, and may include radiographs where clinically indicated.
Professional scaling (洗牙) removes the hardened plaque and tartar that ordinary brushing cannot reach, which helps protect the gums and the bone that supports the teeth. Where decay is found, a filling restores the affected tooth using a tooth-coloured material.
Most adults are seen for a check-up and scaling once or twice a year, though the right interval depends on individual circumstances and is discussed at your visit.
What to expect
- An unhurried examination and a clear explanation of what is found
- Scaling and polishing where appropriate
- Guidance on home care tailored to your teeth and gums
02
Restorative Dentistry
When a tooth is significantly worn, cracked, or weakened, a crown can be fitted to restore its strength and shape. A bridge can replace a missing tooth by anchoring to the teeth on either side, restoring function and appearance.
Root canal treatment addresses infection or inflammation within the nerve of a tooth. By cleaning and sealing the root canal system, the tooth can often be kept rather than removed, which helps preserve the natural bite.
Restorative treatment is planned carefully and staged over the appropriate number of visits. Each step is explained beforehand so you understand the reasoning and the timeline.
What to expect
- A considered treatment plan, staged across visits as needed
- A clear explanation of each step before it begins
- Care taken to preserve natural tooth structure wherever possible
03
Tooth Extraction & Wisdom Teeth
Where a tooth is too damaged to be saved, or is causing problems that cannot be resolved another way, extraction may be the appropriate course. The procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic.
Wisdom teeth sometimes need attention when there is insufficient room for them to emerge properly, which can cause discomfort or affect neighbouring teeth. Each case is assessed individually, with radiographs where needed, to decide whether removal is advisable.
Aftercare guidance is provided so that healing is comfortable and straightforward, and follow-up is arranged where appropriate.
What to expect
- Assessment of whether removal is the appropriate option
- Treatment under local anaesthetic, with comfort prioritised
- Clear written and verbal aftercare guidance
04
Teeth Whitening
Teeth can darken gradually with age, diet, and everyday staining. Professional whitening lightens the natural shade of the teeth using dental-grade materials, under the supervision of the dentist.
Before any whitening, the teeth and gums are examined to confirm they are healthy and that whitening is suitable. The process and the range of results that can reasonably be expected are explained at consultation.
Whitening is cosmetic and entirely optional. It is never recommended where active dental problems should be addressed first.
What to expect
- An examination to confirm whitening is suitable for you
- A clear explanation of the process and realistic expectations
- Supervised treatment using dental-grade materials
05
Dentures & Prosthetics
Dentures replace missing teeth and can restore the ability to eat and speak comfortably, as well as the appearance of the smile. Both complete dentures, for a full arch, and partial dentures, where some natural teeth remain, are provided.
A well-made denture is the result of careful measurement and several fittings to achieve a comfortable, stable result. Time is taken at each stage to adjust the fit.
Existing dentures can also be reviewed, relined, or repaired where appropriate.
What to expect
- Careful measurement and several fittings for a comfortable result
- Adjustment over the following weeks as you settle in
- Advice on cleaning and caring for your dentures
06
Emergency Appointments
Dental pain, swelling, a lost filling, or a broken tooth can be distressing and uncomfortable. The practice makes provision to see patients in genuine discomfort as promptly as possible during opening hours.
The first priority is to relieve pain and to stabilise the situation. A longer-term plan, if treatment is needed beyond the immediate problem, is then discussed without pressure.
If you are in pain, please contact the practice by telephone or WhatsApp and describe what has happened, so that appropriate time can be set aside.
What to expect
- An effort to see you promptly during opening hours
- Relief of pain and stabilising care as the first priority
- A calm discussion of any further treatment, without pressure
Fees are quoted before treatment begins.
